Is software update legitimate?


I have a software update that has shown up on my phone that it's asking me to install. I've got a Koodo Samsung Galaxy Prime and I've never had to do this until now. How do I tell if it's legit as there's just a long series of numbers/letters?  It starts out G530WVLS2AQB2...

Hello Susan, Go into your settings - About device(Phone) and then click on update software and then if it doesn't search of show something automatically then press update software and if it shows update there then it's real and should be installed. Keep in mind it takes quite a bit of data to download the update so try to be connected to wifi to download the update.
The update will take approximately 15-30 minutes so be prepared to not be able to use tour phone while it installs and also make sure the device is plugged in with a full charge and proceed to install update.

When I did a search for G530WVLS2AQB2 on Google, most results said:
"G530WVLS2AQB2 Android 5.1.1 Official firmware Update and download"
so I'm guessing it's legitimate

It's not going to show up in settings if it's not an official update so if it does it's legitimate Jru

I always recommend updating the device to the latest over the air update (from phone settings). You will benefit from security improvements, bug fixes, and sometimes new features.

If you're ever afraid that some funny business is happening on your phone, best to uninstall apps from your phone that you've installed since you got the phone one at a time until the funny effects are gone, but that has nothing to do with a legitimate software update.
Since I got this new SOFTWARE UPDATE MY phone has not been working right. Someone please HELP!!!!!!

What are you trying to log into Betty, your phone or your self serve? If it's your self serve try using the forgot password link on the login page and try changing your password through the email it will send you.
