I want to transfer my number and buy a new phone, all while moving from Telus to Koodo. In what order and how should I do this?

Planning on getting a nexus 4 instead of my LG optimus one. Should I buy the phone through google, activate it on telus (my current account), then move to koodo and get my number transferred or is there a more efficient way? Thanks. Jarred

Hi Jarred, Are you going to buy the Nexus through Google or Koodo? I think Koodo is even cheaper... but it's your choice 🙂 You don't have to activate it on Telus, just buy a Koodo SIM card (along with the phone, if you so desire), activate your new account and port the number right away, or when you feel ready 🙂 Don't cancel your account with Telus first, since you want to keep the number. When your number is ported, the Telus account will be cancelled automatically.

Hi there... Buy your phone, go and open an account with Koodo and tell the representative that you have a Telus number you want to keep, then the number will be transferred to Koodo at the moment of the activation and you will be good to go and enjoy the Koodo services... Make sure you have at the moment of the activation your Telus account number, PIN number or imei number you are using with them, you will need it to port your number to Koodo...

Thanks for the reply, I will try doing that! With the representative, can that be done via phone and in person?

Well, if you order the phone online from Koodo, then you will be able to do it on the phone once you receive your phone, otherwise you will need to approach the store and they will do the rest for you.

I'm yet to do the price comparison, but I'm sure they'll be similar. I guess its time to look at getting set up on koodo, and thanks very much for the speedy response and welcoming!

Here is the link from Koodo about porting your number and the order you should do it from: http://help.koodomobile.com/getting-started-with-koodo/moving-your-number-to-koodo-new/how-do-i-move-my-number-to-koodo And Koodo phones are actually cheaper than most. At Koodo the Google Nexus 4 - 16GB is $300 At the Google Play Store the Google Nexus 4 - 16GB is $359 Canadian + shipping + taxes. Also some Koodo retailers like Futureshop, Best Buy, etc give you bonus.gift cards (up to $100) when you go through them.
