HTC One M8 Paying Off Tab after cancelling account

Hello Community

Hypothetical scenario: My family has two Koodo accounts. One of the accounts has a nice positive tab balance. I want to use that tab balance to buy a HTC One M8 on the tab.

Then I want to cancel that account. I will pay off the remaining tab balance of course.

Can I do this?

Koodo has a separate price for buying the HTC One M8 outright, and another price for the tab purchase. There is a discount when you buy it on the TAB. What if I buy it on the TAB and then cancel the service like a day later? Pay the discounted amount owed on the tab?

What do you suggest I should do? The one M8 uses a nano-sim.

Can I postpone the SIM registration when I buy the phone? I don't want the SIM to get associated with the Koodo account I am about to cancel.

Summary: Want to buy phone on account I am about to cancel. Want to transfer newly bought phone to second koodo account. Account owners are different individuals.

Yes to your question in the beginning. Sims don't get registered to a particular phone. Just do the upgrade, cancel and out your existing sim into the M8 when you want to finally use it. If you need a different sized sim card for it, just purchase it while doing the upgrade.

Hmm, my biggest concern with that is whether or not Koodo would say that this move would violate the conditions of the activation offer.

In the paperwork you sign for the phone is states that if you cancel service before 90 days that you will have to pay for any bonus you were given.
As I interpret it, this means.gift cards and the like, I just don't know if your activation bonus for putting the phone on a tab would have to be repaid.

I don't think there is a bonus being given here unless there's some sort of deal for renewals going on. A positive tab does not count if I recall.
