How-To Hotspot w Koodo Samsung Galaxy Discover?

Hey, I have a Samsung Galaxy Discover and "Tethering and Mobile Hotspot" is missing from the Network settings menu. I tried using FoxFi as was suggested in another thread here, but FoxFi doesn't support Galaxy Discover. Help! Thanks

Hi Gsoul, Just checked my hubby's Discover, could it be in Settings - Wireless & networks - More - Wi-Fi direct. Is that what you are looking for?

Hmm wifi direct is more of a device to device file share feature methinks.

As far as I can tell with my Google searches the Discover is not able to make a wifi hotspot.

Wow really that's odd as heck, I thought every newer Android devices had that ability. What version of Android does the Discover run? Even my old Nexus S had wifi hot spot capabilities and it was released running gingerbread and was baked right into the Android OS at that time.

Discover is running stock 4.0 I believe... I guess they left out the feature, for what I don't know. It's a very cheap phone but hotspot capability isn't exactly breaking the bank either lol

Maybe because it's sold also as a prepackaged prepaid device? Usually prepaid carriers frown on tethering

Well my agrument against that is you can buy several devices on on prepaid from Koodo and it would allow the feature, like S III, iPhone 4S, etc? They're probably not prepackaged though, just have a designated SKU for prepaid in Koodo's system...

The p500h also comes packed for prepaid. Any idea if the feature is removed on that one?

I'm not sure but from what I can remember I think the Optimus one had that functionality, but wasn't it worth a bit more out right?
Thanks for the responses, all. 🙂
