How do I turn off these functions on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2x

Got my new phone today, Samsung Galaxy Ace 2x Love it so far but I have 2 questions. 1st question... across the top of the screen where battery life and service bars are, there is a grey bar with number/letters and a red bar that covers different sections of the grey bar depending on what app or function I may be in. My daughter got the same phone and this isn't on hers. Wondering what it is and how to hide it? 2nd question... my phone thinks it's an etch-a-sketch, as I run my finger across to scroll it leaves a blue line behind where my finger ran, it does fade and go away with each new swipe. But again, how do I turn it off? I've been through all my apps and settings and can't seem to find what/where it is. Thanks

While the phone is on take out the battery and SIM Card for a minute or so then replace them and turn it on. If that doesn't work go into your settings and make sure no developer options are on.

Question #1: Go to Settings and click Developer Options, Click Disable. Question #2: Have you installed SWYPE by any chance?

Swype is not what he is describing. This is on the phone anywhere, not on just the keyboard. It's also in Settings > Developer Options under "Show pointer location". If you want to disable all of them, you can turn off the green switch at the top of the page. There's 2 like to use on there: 1. Keep screen on while charging. This is nice for using the DLNA file sharing feature when I'm using my PS3 as a media server or controlling Youtube on my PS3 through my phone. It'll be even better with the PS4 because it'll have NFC. 🙂 2. Limit background processes: I keep this at 4. That way I know very little is running in the background, especially things that may be hard to see or will fly under the radar. This extends my battery life, most noticeably on standby.
