How do I stop my samsung sII phone from receiving calls and text in the USA while travelling. I want to be able to use wifi only.

A good feature is enabling airplane mode. Go to Settings > More Settings > make sure flight/airplane mode is checked. This will disable the cell radio entirely so only Wi-Fi will work.

Or take the sim card out.

Yup that too. The only problem with that is it may be lost because it's so small.

Could try putting it in upside down, I suppose.
You have a variety of options. You can make sure airplane mode is on, this will shut down the cell radio but still allow you to turn on wifi. Alternatively you can remove the SIM card. You could also look into a roaming package...

This is good to know. I always wondered how you could avoid receiving calls and text when in the USA. I never knew airplane mode or removing the sim card will solve this. Thanks for posting this information.
