How do i get sound for notifications when im in messaging!!??

I have just got the samsung galaxy s4 love the phone, just have one huge issue that i can not seem to get to the bottom of, have been through forums and more forums, yet no fix... When i am in my messaging, and i have the window open, i do not get any sound at all of a new message... my volume is on for texts, and it works if the phone is locked, but if its open there is no noise at all... anyone know how to fix this? thanks in advance 🙂 Would also like to add before someone replies with the "fix" i have uninstalled hangouts, the only messaging app on my phone is the pre installed one... lol

Can you check if email notifications are turned off? It seems that it could a reason it doesn't work (oddly it has an impact on text notifications!). Thanks you!

Hi Bobbie, can you check if you have the latest update? Lollipop is available on the S4 now. If it's already updated or if it didn't fix it, you might have to do a factory reset. Don't forget to back up your phone! Finally, if the phone is still under warranty, you can visit a Koodo store and we'll send it for repairs: http://koo.do/JVO5Mk. Thank you!
