How do I fix my slow Samsung galaxy ace 2 x?

I got a samsung galaxy ace II x two weeks ago this Thursday. When I use the internet on my wifi it is unbelievably slow, and even using data it's slow. If I were to take it back tomorrow would I have to pay off my tab and would my phone be accepted if I take it back? I've already done a factory reset and it didn't seem to help whatsoever. I need answers immediately!

Ack! The term to take it back is 14 days, I guess that means you can still do so tomorrow but no later than that! Internet in itself shouldn't be slow really on the Ace IIx, especially not on WiFi. You can ask the kiosk to check it out, but if your phone is still in good order and all accessories are there, you should have no troubles taking it back (or swapping it for another phone) 🙂

How about it is not the phone but the Hotspot? Check the speed on your computer or other mobile phones using the same wi-fi resource.

1. When running on regular cellular data what download/upload speeds are you getting? - Then compare the speeds between your wi-fi and mobile! Speedtest.net → https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.zwanoo.android.speedtest&hl=en Do you have an open wi-fi network? If your wi-fi isn't protected someone else might be using your hotspot. Does it only happen under your wi-fi hotspot? Have you tried accessing somewhere else? (Library, School, Any restaurant?) Try to clean your phone → https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard&hl=en Even though a Factory reset has been performed you might like to do that.

Try clearing your browsers history and cache. Better yet download a different browser from the Playstore and see if its slow as well. Also keep in mind the Ace 2x is an entry level device and doesn't have very much CPU power so it's not going to be a fast phone no matter what though. If you do take it back and don't need a phone immediately I suggest waiting for the Moto G which should be available from Koodo very soon and is a much much better device in that price range .
I feel your pain man. I used this phone for a year before replacing it with a nexus 5. It is just a slow and low end phone. I'm sure the person above means well by telling you to check your wifi data, etc, but that's only because he's never used this phone. 😛 Trust me after using this phone for almost a year and on multiple wifi networks, it's 100% the phone. The only thing that can help kind of is to download the clean master app and constantly clear ram as the phone just ends up more slow and laggy as time goes by so I was clearing ram on this phone constantly. However, even at full speed, this phone was unbelievably slow surfing the internet on my wifi. Pages would just take so long to load and it would constantly lag or just crash trying to load pages. It was just so frustrating to surf the web on the thing, that I never surfed the web for long periods of time on it. I'm sorry to say, there's really no fix for your problem as it's just a low end budget phone that I wouldn't recommend to anyone anymore, especially with the moto g coming out. I think this phone can't handle ice cream sandwich and would have been better off on gingerbread. Going from the ace 2x to the nexus 5 was a godsend. Having apps open instantly and having 0 lag is a miracle to me! It's like a whole new world! 😛

Not really. I have the same phone and it flies on wifi. I get speeds above 10mbps

Raw speed was never a problem for me as I could get 10mbps too when using speed testing apps. The problem is that never translated to real world speed because of general lag and slowness when using the browser. I stuck with the default browser because I tried chrome and firefox too but the phone couldn't handle those browsers and just made the lag/slowness worse.

I too just got this phone as a backup and I'm past the 14 day mark or I would've returned it too in favor of the Moto G, it's a lag monster and really not worth the 150$ price point.

Yup, it's not worth $150 anymore. I paid that price last december and it was an ok price last year, but not now with the moto g out. Honestly, I think the phone should be removed once the moto g is out so people don't end up getting that instead of the moto g. I learned after the fact that low end android phones aren't great, but at the time there was nothing in the $150 price range to get for android besides this. The moto g will be a game changer because it will be the first budget android phone to have good specs! I'd hate for someone to get this phone over the moto g to save $50 as that extra $50 will save you from lag hell! 😛
if i were to take this phone back, would i have to pay off my tab to get a new phone? or because it's in the 14 day mark i can just get a new phone without paying off this tab?

No, if you're within the 14 day return period, you don't have to pay off your tab, as the tab will be credited back to you and you can use that for another phone. At $150, I always recommend the Nokia Lumia 520, unless your phone has to be an Android. The Moto G, while a fantastic deal at $200, won't be released until tomorrow but you have to make your return today or you'll be past the return period.
Thank you to everyone who answered.
So frustrated with this phone's lack of speed for internet browsing. Not only is it slow, but when I am browsing, it just goes crazy, screens flashing and crashing. My kids told me I should get the iphone before I got this one. I should have listened to them. I will be getting the iphone next time, once my tab is paid off. I wasn't sure if it was the phone or koodo service itself, but after reading the replies, I assume it is all the phone issue. This is my first year with koodo, so wasn't sure how they were.

Kathleen, you can't base your opinion of Android vs Apple on your experience with the Ace2X. The Ace2X is a $150 device, while the base iPhone 5S 16GB is a $725 device. Even the 2yr old iPhone 4S is still $450, 3 times the Ace2X's price. You need to compare phones within the same (or a realistic) price range. When you get into Nexus5 or Galaxy S4 territory, then it's not the same game anymore, and the frustration goes away. Check out a decently spec'ed Android device before your next purchase, you might like what you see 🙂

The Ace 2x is a low end Android device, step up to the Moto G or an S4 mini, S4 or Nexus 5 and you'll see the difference is like night and day compared to the Ace 2x. There are a few things you can do to improve performance, but they're usually short-lived temporary fixes.
I have Samsung Ace 2 and yh it goes pretty fast! I use my Hotspot to connect to my PS3 and i even do Gaming on it which is perfect! We're not talking about the internet side of things and more about how the device functions overall. I have one too. The only way to get marginal performance out of this device was to gain root access and remove all the manufacturer bloatware from it. To borrow a phrase from a fellow Mobile Master, you get what you pay for with Android.

We're you able to find a rom for it Rikkster? I've managed to root it but that's as far as I got. A virgin type Rom would be perfect for it.

I used several way back, one was KyleOpen ROM, CM 7.1 and 10.1, too many bugs, so I ended up ditching ROMs for that device. Already rooted, I decided to go stock but went through the device and deleted as many non-essential services and apps possible (NoBloat). There was a noticeable difference, but the device still lags.
