How do I connect to internet without wifi?

How do I connect to internet without wifi? When I am at home and my wifi is turned on I have no problem connecting to the internet or using any applications. Away from home and no wifi or at home and wifi turned off I have no internet connection. I'm pretty sure it's something to do with Settings but can't figure out what to do. Please help.

Make sure your data is 'ON' under settings.

Please be aware that you will need a suitable data plan or risk incuring overage charges for cellular data used
Thanks for replying. Mobile Data is turned on. Use packet data is on. I'm at home so I've turned off wifi to check if the koodo connection is working and it's not.
Thank you Dennis. I do have a data plan and there's lots left for this month.

Were you able to use data before?

Yes. No problem since I got the phone about 3 years ago.

Log onto self serve and check the add-on page to see if a Data block was added. If so, remove this data block to enable data

Check your APN settings under mobile networks. If you have ever swapped out a SIM from another provider, they may be wrong.

Thanks Bob.I checked it and all the settings are correct as above. I don't know if this makes any difference but there are three more settings displayed. They are: APN Protocol IPv4; APN enabled with green check mark; and Bearer - Unspecified.

Hello Carol, what model phone?
Cire, It's an SII.
Check out this video & see if it helps you. If you have to do a reset be sure to backup your phone with kies.

I checked it and the settings are correct. I'm nervous about resetting because I don't quite understand how to backup and don't want to loose everything.

Have you rebooted your phone?
No I haven't. I'll do that now. I am technologically handicapped so I always forget the easiest thing. I'll let you know.
Yeah Dennis. It's working. Thanks so much.
Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. Even if all I had to do was reboot, I learned a lot from your responses.

That's what makes this community fun, we all learn from each other 🙂 Now I'm sort of hoping you will be back with more questions... just hope you don't encounter any more problems!
Thanks Sophia. I agree. This is the first time I've tried this. I'm sure I'll be back with more questions.
