I would like to transfer these files as they are large and have a lot of data in them.

You would have to export your contacts and calendars to a service like gmail. Transferring contacts is almost obsolete these days with gmail, hotmail, etc calendars and contacts. Anytime you get a new phone, you set up your email and your contacts and calendar are automatically synced. Since you need a gmail to use an android, you may as well start saving your contacts to your gmail and using your gmail calendar. If you don't want to do any of that, well then.. You could go in-store to have your contacts transferred from your Curve to your S3, however you will have to look at other options for getting your calendar transferred.
