Google Verify Account

Got my phone in the mail. Turned it on and forgot to insert the sim so I did so. When I did the phone said it was updating. Then I get a message telling me to verify my google account as the owner. I put in the right information and changed my password to ensure that it was correct. It still wont let me log in at all to continue setting up my phone. I called koodo and they only told me to call the web-store. Is there any way to fix this problem or bypass it.

Is the phone you purchased one of the refurbished deals at the bottom of the webstore?
It was purchased at the web-store, but it is a brand new phone.

What model of phone is it exactly? Also is it asking you to sign in to your Google account or to verify your Google account? This is also the very first time you've turned on and tried to set up your phone correct?

Can you login to your Google account from another device? I'm wondering if changing your password is causing the problem.

I've run into this once and from what I'm remembering changing my password made it so I couldn't verify for a period of time that was 24 or 48 hours which could very well be the issue like David is saying here

Ok yes, I was just reading up on that. I believe that this could be the problem.
The phone is a Samsung S5 Neo. It is asking me to verify the account.I had already signed into my account before this had happened. Yes, it is the first time I tried to set it up. I already tried changing my password and can long into my account on other devices like my old phone for example. Some websites state that it could be a factory reset protection feature?

Usually account verification is done by receiving information on another trusted device and inputting it into the new device. For Instance, you might receive a PIN on your phone to confirm a login from a new computer.  Have you looked up Google Account verification steps from your computer to see what is expected?

However, there is an article that states if a factory reset is done after you change your password you will be locked out for 24 hours which is from the google website. Some website state 72 hours.
Update: After 24 hours I was able to sign into my phone. The issue has been resolved. Thank you very much for your help 🙂
