Going to several European countries for 5+ weeks; how is the coverage for the int'l roaming add-on?

Hi I am going to the UK, switzerland, Austria, Germany, Italy and Greece for a total of 5+ weeks. Before add a 30 day roaming package (and then figure out what to do for the last 7 days) , how is the international coverage in these countries? I have a Samsung S3 and am currently in Canada.

Hey Kathy, Please refer to this link https://www.koodomobile.com/help/travelling-outside-us To check international roaming add-ons The Koodo Support is currently being revamped and I can't seem to find the link that shows the available 3G/4G/LTE speed for each country. However, Koodo partners with major carriers around the world. The roaming plans are good for 30 days and you can add another 30 days through your Koodo Self-serve account.

You can find the list of available connections in each country at the bottom of this page: https://www.koodomobile.com/help/international-pay-use-roaming

Thank you Erwin. I couldn't find it either so was concerned that frequencies wouldn't be appropriate for my Koodo service....

Thanks Allan, does it make a difference if my phone is a Telus or Koodo phone? From the list, I looks like Britain, Austria and Greece are NOT covered under Koodo which isn't of much use to me....

No, it doesn't matter if your phone is from Telus or Koodo. It'll still work all the same.

From Allan's link, I am able to pull up Greece, the UK, and Austria and their roaming partners

Yes but where it says 'is service available?' it says 'no' down through the whole list for all three countries.....I assume this means no partner service is available. Am I not reading this correctly? This is why I am so confused!

In that case then I guess there's no roaming agreement. Sometimes that happens. You're basically restricted to local prepaid Sims then. Upside is several European countries have excellent data rates and you can still stay in touch back home using messaging apps or a VoIP App like Fongo to get a Canadian number or Skype and make use of the data available.

Thanks Goran, That's what I was afraid of. I just didn't want to mess around with SIM cards etc. If I could get a decent roaming package. Koodo is great for Canada and US, good rates, but is a bit disappointing for this particular trip. We hope to have decent wifi in most if not all places but just hoped to have this easily covered as well. Oh well, thanks to everyone for your help!!

hi all, my big big mistake! When Allan kindly gave me the link to International Pay per Use roaming, I misunderstood the information and now realize that is NOT for international roaming packages, but is only for pay per use (duh). So I have finally been able to talk to Koodo rep directly (tried a couple of times last week but couldn't get through) and he has assured me that a roaming package will work in all the countries we are going to with no trouble. Thanks to you all for all your help! I will try to remember to let you all know when I come back how it actually worked, but for now it seems like it should be fine. Thanks again, Kathy

First of all Galaxy s3 will work without any problem on 3G networks (speaking from my own experience) but their LTE operates on different frequencies.

It is worth to check if EU already implemented ability to roam without any extra roaming fees for all EU members. I would say some local sim card with ability to roam on all EU networks would be a cheaper option if your phone is unlocked but if money or savings is not an issue here Telus have in place a lot of agreements with almost all EU members so coverage won't be a problem.

Remember even if you add roaming package you still have to unable it through self-serve. You don't want to end up paying for package and not able to use it.

Thanks Jan. Once I add the package by texting the code to the Koodo number, haven't I then enabled it? Is there something else I should do?

Make sure that you have international voice roaming and I ternstionak data roaming add-ons added in self-serve. Make sure roaming is enabled on your phone. If it's not working, cycle strange mode. I'd it still doesn't work take your son card out and background in again and then restart.

Also make sure the international pay per use add-on as well as recently some people have needed that for the roaming add on to work.
