You would have to call your local repair shops to see what they would charge. It would probably be pretty close to $200 Canadian if they could do it.

You can find a replacement screen on amazon.ca for around $100 if you're willing to try yourself. Not the easiest to do.

Or if it's under 3 months, your credit card comapny might have something called Purchase Security and Extended Warranty Protection

That was for manufacturer warranty extension and some insurance for first 90days. The OP broke his/her screen, that wasn't covered under warranty.

And that's also if you paid for the entire phone upfront. Not for a phone on tab

Interesting. iFixit claimed at one time that the only way to remove the display from the Essential PH-1 was to freeze the device. Yet, the company suggests using the following tools; a heating plate pad and/or heat gun. iFixit has since revised the method for removing the display.

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Essential+Phone+Display+Replacement/105122 - (scroll to Tools section)

Warning: Because of the strong adhesive securing the display, minimal clearance for inserting your tools, and very high heat required, there's a good chance of accidentally damaging the display during this procedure. If you're replacing a broken display, then you don't have to worry—but for all other repairs, work very carefully, and be prepared to replace the display afterward if necessary”.
