Ensure that all new S II Xs shipped out come with Jelly Bean out of the box

Userlevel 7
Hey there folks. As some of you may know by now, I manage a Mobile Shop location and we do a lot of Koodo (but I don't work for them). I was low on S II Xs so I placed an order for a few of them on Thursday, May 16th, and it arrived this morning, May 21st. I turned on one of the phones to test if it had JB on it and unfortunately it was still on ICS. I'm thinking this is because that despite being a new purchase order, Koodo is following FIFO policy and clearing out their older stock before giving me fresh ones, which is fine. I just want to make sure that Koodo starts shipping out new S II Xs with JB pre-installed. I know Samsung usually decides this kind of thing, but Koodo has to put their rom on it anyway ie. the Koodo logo that pops up when you start up the phone so making sure it's updated to 4.1 and then flashing it back to factory would be sweet. It just makes sense, you know?

Probably takes less man hours just to have the end user do it on receipt.

True, but look at how many people are having issues with it or are not tech-savvy enough to know about it themselves.

Samsung released his last SAMSUNG SIIX to 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) on April 22, 2013

Phones that were delivered with old OS before April 22, 2013 that Jonathan received on May 21st, can only be updated, I don't know if they can be returned for an update or not? I don't own Mobile Shop, I just gave info about the update

That's also not the point, Jonathan is asking Koodo to update their stock of S2x to JB BEFORE shipping them to retail.

Now it's up to Koodo to see if he should open those boxes received from Samsung, update OS and send them back to shops or not? I guess if he does that he should sell them as open box phones.

No I can't ship phones for return unless it's a DOA and phone servicing can only be done if the customer purchased our extended warranty (AppleCare+ must still be redeemed at an Apple Store). We also do not sell refurbished/open box/used/whatever you want to call them devices. I'm hoping at the very least that newer shipments from Samsung to Koodo will come with it. I keep telling people that there's an update to their phones and not many people can deal with Kies. OTA updates are where it's at nowadays...

Phone makers ship their new phones quickly, knowing that the next generation is coming in few months, so they do not care if they ship new phones and announce OS updata 2 months later. it's out of Koodo hand, Koodo announces manufacturer updates to let customers complete that update, that's why some wise customers wait until final release is available to avoid any problems with first new OS release.

Hey Jonathan, I was told that they will include the Jellybean. It looks like Samsung is discontinuing the product in June/July anyway, so not too many will be available with the new update.
I thought the S2s were now at their end of like for updates at 4.2.2? http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/467338/20130514/samsung-galaxy-s2-s3-mini-end-life.htm#.Uavx50A-Zlw Frankly the S3 mini stopping at Jellybean is a big disappointment, but think of all those with the Sony Xperia Play: biggest let down ever!
