Emergency calls only

All I get on my new prepay phone is the option to make an emergency call. I have purchased time and gone through the activation process, also put the sim card in.

Take the battery out if you can. Then take out the SIM. Check if it's not damaged. Make sure you put it back correctly. Power the phone on. If it still fails, the SIM maybe damaged.
