Email dissappears in the middle of composition on my Moto G

Since updating my android with the new system, my email has had problems. If I take more than a minute or two to compose an email, it appears to crash and then the email dissapears. It does not go to drafts and you have to rewrite it. It will continue to do this over and over again.

Hi Emily, Try checking the play store for any updates on available apps. Often with new phone updates, the apps become incompatible and all have an update available to make it all work again, so just check out the updates. If that dosn't work, please let us know!

A factory reset is another option after an Android OS or system upgrade. Go to: Settings > Backup and reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Phone. https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/prod_answer_detail/a_id/97329/p/30,6720,9050 On the older system, your email app along with a host of other apps utilized a different runtime, (Dalvik) and may experience glitches as apps adapt to the new runtime (ART), within the new OS (Lollipop). A factory reset should resolve the problem.

If they go to open the google store, it will prompt them to update GApps which correct all these bugs without the need of a system restore. That's what happened to me when updating to lollypop...

Thanks Mathieu. I'm not knocking your solution, if that doesn't work Emily has another option. This method has worked for me many times when apps become unresponsive, particularly after a software upgrade.
Thank you both Mathieu and Rikkster for your responses! I am hesistant to do a factory reset because I don't want to lose all my data and apps. I also haven't had much success with updating the stock email app at the google store as i am not able to locate it. I think for now I am just going to wait it out until another solution presents itself.

Just try opening the google play store, it's on the phone by default. Check the all apps section of your phone. When you open the store, it should prompt you automatically to update it.

You're welcome Emily. You probably noticed that all of your apps remained intact when upgrading from KitKat to Lollipop. The same will happen when you perform a factory reset. Just make sure that both the 'Backup my data' and 'Automatic restore' check boxes are check-marked and that you have an active 'Backup account', (e.g. Gmail), before you tap Factory data reset. The stock email app is no longer available in Lollipop as it was in KitKat. Gmail now takes it's place.
