Does the LG G3 on Koodo support Qi charging? Does it require a special case?

Does the LG G3 Koodo sells support Qi charging? I understand some(all?) North American carriers have it restricted. If it does support it, does it require a special case like the Samsungs, or is it out of the box like on the Nexus 5?

You would have to purchase a separate battery cover that gives the phone the wireless charging capabilities.

My own experience with a phone (Note 2) that required a third-party QI card was not good at all. Seemed like a great idea to charge the unit without causing any wear-and-tear on the charging port (usually not covered under warranty). It may be a technology that will do well when the phone mfgrs include that capability from scratch but slapping in a wafer-thin circuit card with some flimsy contacts that relied on the pressure of the back cover to hold everything in place was not a good implementation in my case. At best, it took about 24 hours to charge the phone y about 10%, and at worst, it actually slowly drained the battery. Fortunately, the vendor had a cheerful return policy. I notice that this item is no longer offered by them.

I'm not talking about the separate cards that you can buy to fit in behind the original battery cover, it's an actual battery cover that had it built into the cover an is made by the actual company that builds said phone. You just simply take the battery cover off the back of the phone and slap the new cover on and away you go. Samsung has them as well but you went with the card which isn't as good because your relying on it hopefully being built properly and fitting properly, they can be good but there's more bad ones out there then good ones.

I have ordered a QI charging case for the LG G3 but have not been able to get it to work yet. I have a Nexus7 and on the charger it works fine and can recharge the unit in about 9 hours (vs. 3.5 via direct usb charging). However the charging for the LG doesn't seem to register both on the charger or the phone. When I tried the NFR it seems to be temperamental so I am not sure if it just is a bad case, I am wondering if anyone else has been successful with this endeavour.

Tempermental is a good description of what I previously went thru with an aftermarket unit. Lesson learned. I wouldn't try anything other than an accessory made by the phone mfgr, as Paul suggested.
