Data Usage on cellphone is not in synch with actual data usage information online.


I have a Moto G cellphone and current plan is 750 MB of Shock-Free Data for $50 per month.

Today I received a text from Koodo saying that I've reached my data limit of 750 MB, but when I look at my data usage on my cellphone (via swiping down the top bar and selecting the Koodo cellular data symbol), it says I've only used 320 MB.

Now I've checked my data usage on Koodo's Self Service and it also says I've reached by limit, so what I don't understand is is why my cellphone so out of synch in regards to my data usage? I find this to be really inconvenient, as I often go out and I would like to see how much data I've used by checking my cellphone.

Also my cellphone says that my billing cycle is July 9th - August 8th, yet my online billing says it's June 22nd - July 21st? This is very confusing and frustrating.

 -  Do you mean the data usage cycle under setting says from July 9th - August 8th? 
   If so, it's not your billing cycle. You have to adjust usage cycle according to your Koodo billing cycle.
Turn your data on > close window > open data usage window > tap drop down on the date > change cycle.

Your billing cycle is what your online billing says. (from 22nd of the month to 21st of the next month)

To add to Mayumi's comment - your phone does not automatically know when your billing cycle starts and finishes, you have to set it up to match. If you are travelling internationally, and using a service add-on, you may wish again to set your usage monitor to match your travel window, so you stay within the allotment of the add-on. It's a really useful tool, but only when set up to match the window of time you want monitored.

So I've changed the data usage cycle dates on my phone like Mayumi suggested, and now it seems to be showing the correct amount of data I've used (which is all of it, lol).
