Create an Android App


Koodo should create an app that will allow me to access the voice network and their text network with my cellphone over wifi internet network at home or anywhere I can't get a cell signal. this would save me from having to sign up with another company to get VOIP service at home. There's a lot of dead spots in Ontario still!

There are alternatives, such as Skype, that you can use while connected to wifi. Why should it be on Koodo to create such an app when apps already exist? If you're out of cell service, then you're out of cell service. It takes time to create a network & to put up towers. Maybe I'm not understanding the question correctly, but I understand it as this: "Koodo can't provide me service in the areas I'm in so they should create an app that bypasses their own network". This doesn't make much sense quite honestly. Also, Koodo isn't a VOIP provider, so there's little reason for them to have a VOIP service. There isn't that big of a demand for a VOIP type service for Koodo.
Hey MarcusF; The tone of your Response is sarcastic and rude. If you are an employee of Koodo, you should be fired. Your people skills are abhorrent. I thought this was a suggestion for the purposes of Koodo to merely consider. In any case, if you are trying to engage me in a pissing contest, I won't waste my time except to enlighten you beyond your narrow view and hopefully do my part to discourage indignant anonymous cowards like yourself. A. I am sure Koodo and every other carrier is aware that they do not cover all areas and would be happy to provide a means to minimize that inconvenience. I happen to be in a valley where signal is not received from any carrier. B. No one suggested that Koodo raise a tower in my area. Furthermore, Koodo doesn't erect towers. They are a subsidiary of Telus. The suggestion was intended to draw attention to a problem and relatively inexpensive solution. C. There may not be a big demand for VOIP services for those who bask in the Megatropolis of Toronto. However, for the rest of us in this country that do not call in the army when it snows, there is a need for a solution to a legitimate problem that exists right across this country. So, why should Koodo create an App? 1. So users don't have to set up a separate account with another company to provide VOIP services to me. 2. Using your "Skype" suggestion means that I need to publish one more number or address to contact me. 3. Being out of cell range means that text messages sent to my cell number are inaccessible. That means that I need to set up another text message service that will allow me to obtain and send text messages over the Internet. I then need to distribute that address (number) to everyone in my contact list. Furthermore, I need to complicate the lives of everyone in my contact list by telling them if they can't reach me, send the text to another number. That's assuming they were able to tell my message was not received. 4. Creating an app that would allow me to send text messages over the Internet that are tied to my cell number, would allow the recipient to identify me as the sender and respond to the number they are familiar with. 5. I am also confident that they would love to find another source or revenue. I am sure Koodo would love to have the $5/mnth that I am willing to pay to another third party to resolve my issue. I suggest MarcusF, you take a few minutes from your daily web trolling that finds you opportunities to provide worthless feedback and instead research any number of services that solve my problem. In doing so they take away revenue from Koodo (ergo Telus) by allowing me to lower my voice minutes requirements. I won't name those services here out of respect for Koodo and Telus --- two Canadian companies that I have respect and adulation for. My suggestion was merely an attempt to draw attention to the fine people at Koodo that there are opportunities waiting untapped. I am left with only two more words for you my friend but they would make me, like you, anti-social.

And you said Marcus was being rude? Your first paragraph was much more offensive than Marcus' entire post! Koodo is, for the time being, strictly a cell phone business. They only created the app for Self Serve. As far as I am aware, that is the ONLY app Koodo will have. Any other app for any other service you want for your phone will need to be a 3rd party app.

You gave a lot more than you got by being as condecending as you were. I still don't see how he was being sarcastic and rude. He clearly stated he didn't quite understand the question.

they're not an employee. employees have a designation next to their name if they are authorized to speak on Koodo's behalf. there are some freelancer employees and a ton of volunteers. Your response was very well written. please don't hurt me.

So basically UMA support. I had this on Rogers, it's awesome if you're in a lower reception area and have wifi.

Precisely. Telus has UMA, why can't Koodo? Didn't see UMA feature on BB's Z10 😞

it may have something to do with koodo's perceived demographic. it's no secret Koodo it's aimed at a younger clientele. hence no business accounts. it's just my opinion but perhaps cost vs. demand don't equal out.

I believe the Koodo one is to as there's a spot to enter sip info
