Cancelling Account

I would like to cancel my account as I am leaving the country for 6 months and will not have a use for my plan. Do I call in advance to cancel my plan? Or do I call the day before I am leaving? 

I believe my billing cycle ends on the 6th of January and I will be leaving the country on the 8th. If I keep my phone activated until the 8th, will I get charged for the next month?

Are you on a monthly plan or prepaid?
In theory you could cancel anytime, but the  wait time right now is terrible due to high volume. I would suggest you call early before the new billing cycle starts or before your departure, so you don't have any issues if something comes up in the last minutes.

If you use your phone for only few days, they will charge you for those days only, not the whole month.
