Can I switch between phones as much as I want?

So, the time is getting closer for my smartphone upgrade, likely in May when work becomes more steady. As I'm looking at potential upgrades, I'm wondering, can I swap between my old phone and new phone as often or whenever I wish? Do I have to let Koodo know when I am switching? The reason being I'm not sure my wife will like a bigger phone and may wish to use our old phone. She hates complication and all kinds of apps on the phone as it is, and I could easily strip down the Galaxy Ace bare for her to use, and set up mine for my use. Will it be a problem to do something like this, and swap the Sim to her phone whenever she needs to use it, then back to mine?

Along as the phone is unlocked (or locked to Koodo) you can just move the SIM card to it. Of course they aren't meant to be moved every day so the contacts could wear out if you are changing it around too often.

Hi Iglooman and a very good morning to you 😃 You can change as often as you like, for a while I was playing with my unlocked Telus phone and swapping it about 100 times with my Galaxy Nexus, and another old clunker phone, and Koodo never made a fuss, don't think they even noticed The olden days of having to use specific devices are over, THANK GOODNESS 😃
Awesome, thanks for the verification. I wasn't sure if it required a call in or not, which would have been a hassle. This puts my mind at ease as I look forward to making the transition, because my wife hates technology and the complexity of a smartphone, and I think allowing her to go back to one she is used to will allow me the time to get her used to the new one without her going into hate mode. 🙂

You can even have two SIM cards (one in each phone) like I do and just register whichever SIM you want to use on Self Serve. Do keep in mind that an inactive SIM will expire after 90 days, so make sure you cycle your SIMs so that they stay active.
OK So I have 2 phones and two SIM cards. One phone (and card) I've been using for awhile and a new Android phone and card I bought from Koodo a couple months ago. I bought the new phone because of some apps I would like to use in the barn. The barn environment is not suitable for an expensive phone but I would like to occasionally take it out there (to use the apps) and obviously use it carefully as a phone during those times. Using self serve how do I switch back and forth. The options I find are "up grading your phone" and "change SIM card". If I want to keep the SIM cards in the phones and change everything back and forth how do I proceed. Thanks you very much for any advice.

I believe that you can reactivate a SIM card within 90 days on the same account... so you will probably be able to go into self service and alternate between activating the two SIM cards. I have no idea how many times you will be able to do that, but you could try 🙂 At the VERY worst, you'll have to buy a new SIM card in time for about $10 🙂

Thanks Sophia for your response. So if I understand what you are advising I need to just activate the SIM card that's in the phone I want to use (obviously not the one I'm using now) and then when I want to go back to my regular phone I can just activate that card....the original one and so forth. From the posts above it sounds like some people are doing this all the time (at least 4 months ago they were).. I don't want to switch and then not be able to switch back. I was hoping some one that has done this sort of thing recently would comment. Thanks for your advice.

Yeah it's no problem. I do it every 2 months or so to keep my old normal size, and micro sim cards from deactivating. I do the switches all within 10 mins of each other and have no issues.

Thanks Jorden
Related to my previous question of swapping back and forth between phones/SIM cards. Since I have a new phone and SIM card do I have to activate that one (the instructions that came with the phone said to just switch my old SIM card into the new phone)? Or can that be done via "upgrading my phone" if I use both the new phone and the new SIM card? I guess what I'm asking is how did those of you with 2 phones and SIM cards end up having 2 and not just a new "set"? Thanks
