Call, but no Text?

Hi. I topped up my account a few day ago with enough to renew my $15 dollar base plan. I know it went through because I can now make calls again, but I am unable to text. I have tried shutting off the phone, waiting for it to die, and attempting to send and receive messages from various places, indoor and outdoor but nothing works. My phone is a 9 month old Moto G running Android 4.4.4 if that helps. Thank you very much for your time.

I gather you were temporarily cut off while the top-up went through. Turn off the phone, pull out the battery and wait 30 minutes, then re-install battery and restart phone. Re-registering the phone on the network from a dead start is sometimes all that's needed to restore missing service. Try sending yourself a text. If it doesn't work, your re-activation may not be complete on Koodo's end. Or you might have a software problem with 4.4.4. http://forums.androidcentral.com/moto-x-2013/424013-cant-receive-text-messages.html Either way, if re-setting doesn't work, you will have to call 6-1-1. Let us know how it turns out.
Thank you for the reply! The Moto G does not have a removable battery. I have been texting myself, all failed. If I 611 them it tells me I may be charged $5. I am a prepaid user and do not have the money on my account. Will they be able to help me anyways? Or would they be able to if I went into a Koodo store? Checking for updates, etc for Android in the meantime. Thanks again!

I presume it has a SIM. Try pulling that out for a half hour. Can't help/don't know about Koodo $$$ for help policy.
Thank you sir, you've been a great help 🙂

Hi Nathan, you can call us, we never charge customers calling for assistance 🙂 We'll have a look into this issue! The best is to call us from another phone, at 1-866-995-6636. Thank you! ________________________ If you see a good answer, give it a star.

Koodo charges when you ask for assistance for things you can do yoursself in the self serve site. Makes sense if you think about it. in this case it's technical assistance that's not available in the self serve site
