If you're disputing a charge, it's always best to do so after the payment. If there is an error, they can put a credit on your account after. Missing a payment automatically puts you at a bad spot (missed payment, which isn't explained in a credit score). Missing a payment won't ruin your credit score, but it can add up over time.
