Bluetooth volume

My Moto G will no longer control the volume on my Bluetooth speaker. It was working fine but after the system update to 4.2.2, it just stays at max volume even though on the screen it looks like the volume is going up and down. This speaker doesn't have its own volume control so I need this fixed!

Are you sure your turning up and down the correct volume which would be the media volume and not the notification / ring tones volume
Yes. when the device is paired, my volume buttons automatically control the Bluetooth volume. The Bluetooth symbol is there.

Mine works fine with my Plantronics Legend. It has a volume hardware switch too. Do you have a V3 micro SIM? I know that was causing issues with people's dialers after the Moto G update so maybe that affected something else too.
Oops I meant 4.4.2
Oops I meant 4.4.2. I found an article saying that the latest update now allows you to control the volume on your Bluetooth device as well as on the phone. So maybe this has something to do with it.but again, this causes problems for me since my device does not have its own volume control

Yah enter the blue tooth part of the settings and click on the settings icon next to your blue tooth connection and it will pop up showing to connect it to PHONE AUDIO or MEDIA AUDIO and you check off both or maybe in your case you have to check just the media one for your type of blue tooth speaker.

Mine Only shows media audio. And when I uncheck it, Bluetooth disconnects from the speaker

It must be the blue tooth speaker your using because I just tried to hook it up to the Sony blue tooth headphones I have and it works perfectly fine.
I thought it might be the speaker but my brother paired his iPhone to it and could control the volume from there

Totally different phone and technology though so that really doesn't mattermatter, just because a speaker works on one phone doesn't mean it will work on another from another company let alone OS

You may want check with the manufacturer to see if there's a possible upgrade for the bluetooth speaker.
I have the same problem using Aftershokz Bluez headphones.
