Question

Android phone with weird notifications?

On my Galaxy S2X I noticed that a weird notification has been popping up. The icon is an Android with a box in the middle of him, and the notification is some weird chinese lettering. Clicking on it asks you to download a thing called Frozen Bubbles, with a picture of a cartoon cat as the app icon. The permissions allow this application to see my location Network communicationg, personal information and storage and it is obviously a virus, but I can't remove it from my notifications because it appears as Ongoing. What do I do?

[img]https://uploads-us-west-2.insided.com/koodo-en/attachment/Screenshot_2013-01-18-16-43-44_in...Hi Chad, It did occur to me but I was hoping I wouldn't have to do it because I'd have to re-download the applications I need. Rikkster, thanks, will try that app. It does indeed appear to be from another app I had previously already deleted. Sorry I did not realise that Koodo is actually a Telco, I had come across this thread because I had been searching online for solutions related to my app problem, and saw the description come up on Google during my search. Thanks though for your kind support toward deleting this notification from my phone, much appreciated.

The System Tools permission states that it will display system level alerts, hence the icon in the notification bar. The icon that is shown indicates that the app has been uninstalled and the android robot with the white 3D box on it, refers to missing or residual files related to that app. Short of rooting your device, you may want to try an app called Clean Master. Should that fail, a factory reset may be required as Chad has suggested. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cleanmaster.mguard&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd

Wow, I haven't had this problem yet with my Android but if ever I do, I will come back here for these details! I AM impressed with the detailed walkthrough pictures in this answer.

Thanks for your reply, I believe it could be as I was downloading a puzzle bubble app like that. The actual notification however, does not belong to this app, so I think it may have been riding on the actual app I was downloading and have since uninstalled, or it could have been the actual one itself called Frozen Bubble (am not very sure as it sounds familiar but I must have uninstalled it shortly after). I was actually trying to resolve the issue over the past week or two, searching online until I came across this post today, describing the exact same app notification I was trying so hard to get rid of because swiping it and closing off all notifications did not work, even having the notification re-appear after restarting the phone (it will not appear initially). After downloading Comodo it does help, though I did not actually uninstall any application although two apps suspected were highlighted. I have since added one of those to the safe list as I am familiar with it (unless there were changes made to it since the last time I'd used it on an Android phone) and left the other unchanged (which is why I posted my above question on the name of the app that could be causing this, knowing it is probably another application that may have already been uninstalled that is still causing this notification to appear). Apparently Airpush apps did not work, I'd tried two types, and this is by far the most helpful.
Is this the app that cause the issues? It's the closest to a cat on the Icon I can find in the p...Hi, I've attached the screen shots of the application notification and the application prompting option to install as requested. I took a few days because the application did not appear for a few days but it's just reappeared on my phone again. Thanks!

Is this the app that cause the issues? It's the closest to a cat on the Icon I can find in the p...Thanks, did so as advised but it says no push ads found. I'm not sure what app was installed previously that led to this so I'm hoping you can advise me further and Joong Ho can let me know which was the app he managed to remove using Comodo, thanks!

Is this the app that cause the issues? It's the closest to a cat on the Icon I can find in the p...Follow the pictures at the bottom and it will bring you to a point that when it shows which apps are pushing ads to your phone, it will give you the option to un install those apps right from Comodo.
