Do you get any of her text messages or none at all? If she sends a text that is a couple of words long do you receive that? - KID ANDROID. ( Team.Android.Canada).

Koodo blocks incoming messages from a lot of foreign networks. (Even networks that have a sms agreement with Telus.) Koodo uses a SMS Hub service which in turn requires every networks to pay fees if they want to send messages to Koodo.

On a global scale Koodo is very small so many networks that are not already customers of that SMS hub can't be bothered. The reason is probably not so much the fees but the effort for establishing the contract and then setting up the routes and testing them. It is a huge effort. If Koodo would accept text messages the standard way this would not be necessary.

However, it could also be an issue with the number. Have you checked that your friend doesn't simply hit "reply" but enters your number in a correct format? Like +1xxxyyyzzzz? (Not sure how it is done in China, but that is the international format.) Koodo doesn't have their act together with displaying the sender's number for connections to international calls (and probably texts).

When I call to Europe noone can call me back because my number is always displayed wrongly. Koodo can't be bothere to add "+1" in front. So my number (starting with 902) is shown as +902... which is a number in Turkey instead of +1902 which would be Nova Scotia or PEI. I've called Koodo several times to explain the problem, but the call center agents did not understand. I've literally spent hours on this. Very frustrating.

Your friend might face a similiar hurdle when she sends her texts.

No messages come through at all. We were on Skype and my message went to her phone instantly. I type in 01186 ...
She types in 001 then my area code and number...

She tried both ways ,,,hitting reply and also typing correct number...

no worky...

These are companies that Koodo have partrnership with in China:
China unicom
China Mobile
China Telecom
My guess is that there will be no problem in sending/reciving text messages from numbers subscribed to one of these companies

Hi Edwin, if your girlfriend is using one the Chinese providers indicated in Mat's reply, we could have a look into it. Call our technical support at *611, option #5, from your cell and provide the name of the Chinese company and your girlfriend’s number :)

She is using China Unicom ,,number starts with
+86 1 318 803 xxxx

or 0086 1 318 803 xxxx

OK I phoned 611 and they said to take out battery and SIM card for 5 minutes. I receive her messages now.... but her number is displayed wrong on her reply . So I go to my contact list for her correct number each time when I reply.
